FPS Once Bitten, Twice Dead to Get Oculus Rift Support

One scenario that many virtual reality (VR) fans will have doubtlessly day dreamed of at some point over the past few years is the zombie apocalypse. While the genre has arguably grown stale in a standard format, VR could breathe new life into it with a heightened sense of immersion. New first-person shooter (FPS) title One bitten, Twice Dead hopes to do just that by adding support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) into its upcoming PC version.


Once Bitten, Twice Dead is developed by indie studio Dark Day Interactive. The title is currently undergoing a Steam Greenlight campaign where it hopes to raise enough positive votes in order to be approved for sale on Valve’s digital store come full launch.

The title pits players in a world overrun with the undead. Assuming the role of one of 15 types of characters, each of which carrying their own skill sets, players will fight back against the hordes using over 50 unique weapons. 100 different items can be crafted and camps can be built in order to defend from zombies come nightfall. An Infected Mode in which players can control a zombie themselves is also planned. The title boasts a cartoon art style that forms a vast open world. Multiplayer will also feature.

Should its Greenlight campaign prove successful than Once Bitten, Twice Dead hopes to launch on PC in early 2015, though the timeframe for this window is obviously running out. Dark Day Interactive is also planning on bringing the experience to the Wii U, although a date for this version is yet to be set.
