Recently VRFocus reported on virtual reality videogame Prison Life launching a Steam Greenlight Campaign. Now it has received enough up-votes to release on Valve’s digital sharing platform. The title allows players to experience what it’s like to be a prisoner. It is due to be compatible with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
The first person experience places inmates in the Ashcliff Experimental Facility (AEF) prison. Users will have to integrate themselves into a community of notorious criminals in order to survive. The hostile environment will offer many opportunities to the player including gaining allies and learning how to fight by being taught karate or kick-boxing.
Users are also able to play soccer, workout in the gym and take part in other activities to boost the characters stats. Characters in the videogame are reminiscent of characters seen on TV like the Tayla White who looks similar to Breaking Bad’s Walter White as well as the now incarcerated lawyer Paul whose tagline is ‘Better Call Paul!.’
Players will have to manage the prisoner’s regular needs as well including things like hunger, hygiene and sleep. To keep on top of this the users time must be managed. Other stats like happiness need to be kept up as well by doing several fun activities.
VRFocus will keep you updated as Prison Life progresses.
