Radial-G Dev Teases ‘top secret project’

It’s a big week for UK-based indie developer Tammeka Games. In just a few days the studio plans to release its second major update for the Early Access version of its popular virtual reality (VR) compatible sci-fi racing experience, Radial-G. The developer is known to be planning a number of editions of the title beyond its PC release, including a PlayStation 4 port with support for the Project Morpheus head-mounted display (HMD). Just what else the studio has in the works is unknown, but it has recently been teasing a ‘top secret project’.

Tammeka Games producer Sam Watts recently took to Twitter to suggest that the team has plenty more up its sleeve. “A new week!” Watts wrote. “Lots happening – Radial-G Update#2 at the end of it but review of a top secret project before that 😀 Lets do this!” The developer didn’t offer any hint as to what this secret might be. Could he be referring to additional features or ports of the studio’s Oculus Rift compatible racing title? Or is Tammeka Games perhaps starting work on its next full videogame for life after Radial-G?

Either way, Radial-G has a long life ahead of it. This week’s update will add a number of new features including two new speed classes, an online leaderboard and new tracks. A third update is also planned for early May 2015 with the full launch hoping to take place later that month and receiving regular content drops post-release. The additional versions of the title are yet to be outright confirmed, although Tammeka Games has announced that it is in possession of developer kits for both the PlayStation 4 and Project Morpheus.

Taking inspiration from other sci-fi racing series such as F-Zero and Wipeout, Radial-G allows players to race on tubular tracks with a full 360 degrees of control. The title can currently be picked up on Early Access for £9.99 GBP. VRFocus will continue to follow its progress, reporting back with any further updates on it.
