Darkfield Dev Launches Greenlight Campaign for Nighttime Terror

It’s a busy time for virtual reality (VR) dedicated videogame developer, VR Bits. Earlier this month the studio revealed its third VR videogame in Stranded for the Oculus Rift and Gear VR head-mounted displays (HMDs). That doesn’t mean that the team won’t be supporting its past projects, though. In fact, VR Bits has today launched a Steam Greenlight campaign for the PC version of Nighttime Terror, the developer’s second project that has previously seen a full release on Gear VR.

Nighttime Terror‘s Greenlight campaign hopes to raise enough positive votes in order to bring the title to Valve’s digital PC store with full support for the Oculus Rift. The project is a top-down, twin-stick shooter set inside a series of childhood nightmares. Players will use weapons to fight back against an army of evil toys. The full videogame offers six different levels ranging from bedrooms to playgrounds, with a total of five weapons from tommy guns to rocket launchers. A full leaderboard will also feature for players to post high scores onto.

Nighttime Terror supports the Oculus Rift,” VR Bits writes of the title’s VR integration. “You thought VR games have to be first person? Nighttime Terror is an ideal beginner VR experience with absolutely no motion sickness and the world looks amazing in VR.”

It’s not clear exactly when VR Bits intends to launch the full PC version of Nighttime Terror. Those interested in the title can download a free demo for it via the Greenlight page. The developer will also be supporting standard monitors with the PC release, though there’s no mention of possible integration with HTC and Valve’s Vive HMD, nor if the videogame could come to PlayStation 4 with support for the Project Morpheus HMD. VRFocus will continue to follow VR Bits and Nighttime Terror closely, reporting back with the latest updates.
