VR Drag Racing Released

Virtual reality (VR) will likely make a big impact on the racing videogame genre in years to come, allowing players to feel as if they’re actually sitting in a driver’s seat. While the genre is yet to truly take off on PC, smartphone-based head-mounted displays (HMDs) have seen a number of experiences following the release of Google Cardboard. Joining them this month is VR Drag Racing from indie developer Ground Speed Online.

As the name suggests, VR Drag Racing allows players to take part in first-person, high-speed challenges in fantasy super cars. Players compete in one-on-one races, using sliding the magnet located on the Google Cardboard unit down in order to change gears and gain speed. A range of vehicles can be selected from the title’s Garage menu. Races take place across a long stretch of road in a city environment.

VR Drag Racing can currently be picked up for £1.61 GBP on the Google Play Store. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all applications of VR, reporting back with the latest updates on them.
