Fireproof Games Talks Omega Agent, Making a True VR Tile and Gear VR

As of September 2014, UK-based indie developer Fireproof Games had yet to break away from its popular mobile-based puzzle series, The Room. That changed when Samsung introduced its new virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), the Gear VR. Following its reveal, Fireproof Games announced Omega Agent, an open-world title that hands players the keys to a nuclear-powered jet pack. Eight months on since that announcement and Omega Agent has launched on the new version of the device, compatible with Samsung’s Galaxy S6.

VRFocus recently spoke to Fireproof Games’ Barry Meade about Omega Agent. In the interview below, Meade talks about just what players can expect to see in the title, including how the developer positioned the title as a ‘proper’ VR videogame. There’s also talk about the title’s unique art style and the challenges of developing for Gear VR as a mobile platform.

VRFocus will continue to follow Omega Agent‘s progress, reporting back with the latest updates on the title.
