FOVE CEO Talks Eye-Tracking for VR Videogames, Crowd-Funding and More

Eye-tracking has caused a lot of debate within the virtual reality (VR) community over the past few years. The technology is noticeably absent from head-mounted displays (HMDs) such as the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Project Morpheus, with some dismissing its relevance while others keep it on a sort of ‘to do’ list, potentially for use in later iterations of their kit. One HMD that is tackling eye-tracking head-on, however, is FOVE, which will be looking to raise funds in a crowd-funding campaign in the near future.

VRFocus recently spoke with FOVE CEO and Founder Yuka Kojima about the company’s upcoming product. In the interview below, Kojima touches upon how eye-tracking can enhance VR videogames and experiences, and why it may be crucial to the technology’s future. There’s also talk of her time spent at Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), and what she makes of the Project Morpheus HMD for PlayStation 4.

VRFocus will continue to follow FOVE closely, reporting back with any further updates on the device.
