Austin, Texas-based indie developer Ghost Machine VR is fully committed to virtual reality (VR) technology, having spent much of the last year revealing a number of titles that include support for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs). These include the likes of MotorSport Revolution, Final Strike, Endless Dead and Orc Assault. The team has its plate full, then, but that hasn’t stopped it from announcing yet another VR title this week in the form of a turret-based shooter named Invasion Force.
Compatible with the Oculus Rift, Invasion Force is a first-person experience in which players fend off waves of aliens that resemble giant bugs using a 380mm cannon. Players are cast as a special recruit enlisted in what’s known as the United Invasion Force, a global group dedicated to removing alien threats from all over Earth. Players will travel to the rainforests of South America, the deserts of Africa, and the icy tundra of the Arctic, fighting enemies that approach from all kinds of terrain.
A trailer for Invasion Force can be seen below. It provides over a minute of new footage from the shooter and confirms that support for the Oculus Rift will be included, though there’s no mention of the HTC Vive just yet. Judging by the message at the end of the trailer, a Steam Greenlight campaign for the title is likely also in the works, though has yet to surface online. Many of Ghost Machine VR’s other projects have been through the Greenlight process, seeking approval to be sold on Valve’s digital store.
VRFocus will continue to follow Invasion Force closely, reporting back with any further updates on the title.
