The 2015 Silicon Valley Virtual Reality (SVVR) Conference and Expo may have already taken place this week, but plenty more VR action has been taking place at this year’s iteration of the Shayla Games VR Jam in Copenhagen, Denmark. A busy weekend of talks and activities complemented an intense jamming session in which teams of developers competed to make the most intriguing new VR experiences. With the weekend drawing to a close, the winners of the Jam have been revealed.
The first place in the Jam resulted in a tie between E-Motion and S.A.D. Cat. As VRFocus detailed on its liveblog covering all entrants, the former is a music-based rhythm title in which players use motion controllers (in this case, Razer Hydras) and the Oculus Rift head-mounted displays (HMDs) first development kit (DK1) to tap bright icons in time. Players are scored on their timing of hitting each note. S.A.D. Cat is a platform-based title in which players use head-tracking to correctly align a world in order to progress.
A number of runner-up entrants were also revealed. Fourth place goes to a swimming simulator known as Breath Taking, third is award to Peter Pornstar from the Jam’s own Julie Heyde and second place goes to biking title, VR Bike. Each winner and runner-up has secured a spot at the Creative Coast event in Malmo running next weekend. The two winners, meanwhile have been awarded tickets to the Unite Conference in Amsterdam from 24th – 25th June.
VRFocus will continue to follow the latest VR updates, reporting back with the latest on them.
