VR First-Person Horror Dreamcase Launches Greenlight Campaign

Horror has proven a popular genre for those developing virtual reality (VR) titles. The isolation and immersion provided by the likes of the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) can greatly enhance these experiences and that’s something that developers have quickly acted upon. This week sees the launch of a Steam Greenlight campaign for a brand new VR horror experience named Dreamcase. The campaign will hope to secure enough positive votes in order to approve the title for sale on Valve’s digital store in the future.

Developer NoRecordedScirssors notes that Dreamcase initially appears not to have a plot, though players will soon discover that they are in fact caught in the dreams of a killer. Players are tasked with escaping this dream by solving puzzles as they are subjected to scares. The title actually features a randomly generated screaming effect that will catch players off guard.

Dreamcase will feature full support for the Oculus Rift, though a release date for the title is yet to be provided. NoRecordedScissors also notes that the title will feature support for 4K resolution as well as gamepads and more.

VRFocus will continue to follow Dreamcase closely, reporting back with any further updates on the title’s development.
