Galaxy Heist Greenlit on Steam

Earlier in the week indie studio Space Bear Development launched both a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign and Steam Greenlight campaign for its upcoming virtual reality (VR) videogame, Galaxy Heist. The former hopes to raise £65,000 GBP towards the title’s development, while the latter is looking to approve it for sale on Valve’s digital store come full release. While the Kickstarter campaign continues the push to reach its target, Galaxy Heist has at least been greenlit on Steam.

Galaxy Heist is a multiplayer title that plays out as part first-person shooter (FPS), part space simulation. Combatants are placed on flagships located in huge battlefields and must siege the opposition’s craft. This is done by disabling the enemy ship’s power before boarding it and clearing it out. Players can either choose to take part in the inside shootouts, fight the enemy in ships in space or even command a turret on one of the flagships.

Those interested in Galaxy Heist can currently pledge £15 on the Kickstarter campaign to secure a copy of the PC version title for its estimated release in July 2016. 1000 copies of the Xbox One version are also available for this price while access to the title’s Beta testing in February 2016 is listed for £20. A number of stretch goals for the videogame are also listed, promising extra features such as a first-person drone fighter and more.

VRFocus will continue to follow Galaxy Heist, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.

  1. Sounds a lot like that baloon-ship arena game that’s in Beta now, only in space. I expect it to end up exactly like Chivalry did in the end. I’d rather wait for Star Citizen as it will deliver the same, only with much more depth (granted, with a much steeper learning curve).
