Virtual reality (VR) experiences have so far primarily been solo titles, meant for one player that could immerse themselves in whole new worlds. But there are a number for multiplayer titles in the works for each and every head-mounted display (HMD). Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) itself is set to showcase some of these titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, California this week.
A number of multiplayer videogames were announced for Project Morpheus at the show, including the likes of Guerrilla Cambridge’s RIGS and World War Toons from Reload Studios. SCE’s Andrew House spoke about the potential for social experiences on Project Morpheus at the show.
Project Morpheus boasts a 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The latest version of the device was introduced back at the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March, where SCE also confirmed that the device would be launching for consumers in the first half of 2016. Pricing for the device is yet to be revealed.
VRFocus will continue to follow Project Morpheus closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the kit.
