Holodance Launches IndieGoGo Campaign

While lots of developers are experimenting with various forms of movement within virtual reality (VR), something that hasn’t really been covered yet is dancing. While there are lots of dancing videogames across all the consoles, with VR it can be trickier due to wearing a head-mounted display (HMD). Indie developer Narayana Games is looking to change this with a IndieGoGo funding campaign for Holodance.

Holodance which VRFocus has previously reported on, is a collaborative multiplayer VR experience that has players hitting orbs that fly towards them at different heights and speeds in time with the music. All the music is composed and produced specifically for this VR experience using binaural audio and the levels are designed to match the sound to give a spatial, rhythmic, audio-visual experience.

Narayana Games have developed Holodance to work with all the major HMD including the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus units. The team are currently using an Oculus Rift DK2 with a Razor Hydra for the development and prototyping of the software. The developer has stated that Holodance will be available for the launch of the HTC Vive this winter.

The campaign also considering several stretch goals including; HoloLens support, an in-game editor, community features and support for sharing sessions.

Holodance is looking for $15,000 USD in funding and the campaign which started today is running for the next 60 days. VRFocus will continue to report the titles progress on IndieGoGo.
