Paralo PLAY Virtual Reality HMD Seeks Kickstarter Funding

While many gamers eagerly await the launch of premium virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMD) like the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Project Morpheus, its been the budget end of the market that has helped drive VR into the mainstream. Devices like Google Cardboard and Gear VR have enabled users to experience VR without a great deal of cost and now Paralo is looking at a slice of that market.

Last month Paralo launched a Kickstarter campaign for a smartphone VR device called PLAY. PLAY is designed as a premium version of Cardboard, to be more comfortable, more durable and more ergonomic than its Google counterpart. Made from silicone, the PLAY is a single piece of construction with nothing to build. The uni-body structure can accommodate 30 different smartphones and the body is designed to be drop and water proof.

With smartphones having a large array of apps, videogames and experiences available for users to try VR, having a device which is durable and comfortable for users of all ages to use may grow the market even further.

The Kickstarter campaign is looking to raise $38,000 USD to fund the project, its currently sitting at $3,468 USD with 16 days to go.

VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of Paralo’s campaign and report back any further updates.

  1. This looks really nice but I don’t think their May 2016 projected delivery date is going to attract many buyers. Hope they can find other funding sources that I think it deserves.
