VR Drive Releases ‘Journey to Paris’ Virtual Reality App

Tourism and virtual reality (VR) have gone hand in hand for some time now as users want to immerse themselves in far away exotic locations for a fraction of the cost. But VR isn’t just about sandy beaches and clear blue seas, as developer VR Drive has shown with its new Android app Journey to Paris.

Journey to Paris blends 360 degree with 3D video to provide an immersive experience of some of Paris’s most famous landmarks. Users can gaze at points of interest which will then bring up further information on that particular landmark. So far the app includes, Parvis Notre Dame, 8 Boulevard du Palais (next to Sainte-Chapelle), Pont Neuf, Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, L’Arc de Triomphe de l’Etoile, and 88 Boulevard de Clichy (next to Moulin Rouge).

The app which is the first from VR Drive is still in its alpha stage so some users may find imperfections with the software, but the app is free. Journey to Paris is designed to work with compatible smartphone head-mounted displays (HMD) like the Google Cardboard or the Samsung Gear VR for the full immersive experience.

VRFocus will continue to follow any further announcements from VR Drive regarding future projects and report back.
