In August, UK based studio Frontier Developments announced a new season of major gameplay expansions called Elite: Dangerous Horizons for virtual reality (VR) compatible space simulation videogame Elite: Dangerous. Now the developer has announced a Lifetime Expansion Pass is available for a limited time.
Revealed on Frontier Developments store page, the Lifetime Expansion Pass will grant players access to all current and future seasons of Elite: Dangerous. The pass will also include access to all Elite: Dangerous Beta builds to allow an early glimpse at future game content before release plus exclusive content. The pass retails for £130.00 GBP but is only available until the 14th September 2015.
Also noted on the store page, that for existing players of Elite: Dangerous who purchase the Lifetime Expansion Pass a £10 GBP loyalty discount will be automatically applied at checkout. As a secondary bonus, on top of the discount those players will also receive the exclusive Cobra Mark IV ship when ordering through the Frontier store. The Cobra Mark IV ship will be added to your account when Elite: Dangerous Horizons lands.
While the developer hasn’t confirmed if the new expansions will be VR compatible the announcement that the videogame won’t support the newly released Oculus software development kit (SDK) 0.7 does cast doubt on that. Elite: Dangerous will only currently work up to the 0.5 SDK.
VRFocus will continue to follow the progress of Elite: Dangerous and its VR compatibility and report back.
