Marvel Entertainment’s flagship superhero team, The Avengers, are already no stranger to virtual reality (VR) experiences. Earlier in the year visual effect studio Framestore launched Battle for Avengers Tower as a tie-in to the most recent movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now technology and software company TREK Industries has revealed its first VR experience, which also pays homage to perhaps the most iconic Avenger, Iron Man. The company has showcased a new experience named Experience: Stark Tower that will let players explore the hero’s headquarters as seen in the first The Avengers movie.
A trailer for this new experience can be seen below. It showcases Tony Stark’s state of the art living quarters based in New York City that were later transformed into Avengers Tower in this year’s sequel. Players will be able to explore this highly-detailed recreation of the space using the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). As the clip explains, this is a non-profit, non-affiliated project that has been created with the developer’s own resources as a research project into VR.
TREK Industries intends to launch this experience in November 2015, though the initial release will be far from the last. Over time, the developer will make refinements to the surrounding city as well as add in an appearance from the iron Avenger himself. In 2016 the group even plans to add an interactive experience that will allow players to meet multiple Avengers and more. On top of all of this the studio also claims that it is ‘wrapping development’ on 2 other VR projects.
VRFocus will continue to follow Experience: Stark Tower closely, reporting back with the latest updates on it.
