Earlier in the month VRFocus delivered a review for Anshar Wars, the debut virtual reality (VR) videogame from OZWE Games for the Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD). The title actually released earlier in the year for Innovator Editions of the kit, meaning it was ready for the launch of the consumer version of the Gear VR, which arrived in the US on 20th November 2015. OZWE Games has been hard at work on a sequel to the title since its release, however, and has today announced a release date for it.
Anshar Wars 2 will be launching on 1st December 2015 on Gear VR. This sci-fi experience is described as an ‘action arcade’ videogame that allows players to control a space ship using the HMD’s head-tracking technology. The title is set in a fictional universe in which the Ansharian Empire faces off against an ancient enemy known as the Nergal. Players will take on the role of a newly enlisted pilot and fight back against Nergal ships using a range of weapons including missiles, lasers, tesla blasts and portal generators.
VRFocus recently spoke to OZWE Games about what fans can expect from Anshar Wars 2. “Anshar Wars 2 has more missions, more space environments to explore, and three ships with unique abilities and controls,” the developer said of the title’s improvements over the original videogame. “It also features the ability to fly over planet landscapes, which is a really different experience from the first version of the game. Overall, it is a rich and fully fleshed game when compared to the original.”
VRFocus will continue to follow Anshar Wars closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
