Can You Walk The Walk? a virtual reality (VR) experience developed by VR marketing agency CreateVR to promote The Walk by director Robert Zemeckis, has received two accolades for its work. CreateVR won the awards at two separate ceremonies recently, the first from Digital Hollywood and the second at the Clio Key Art Awards.
At Digital Hollywood’s award ceremony CreateVR won Best In Virtual Reality, Based on a Cinematic or Television Experience. While at the Clio Key Art Awards the agency also won the Silver statue for Best Theatrical: Engagement/ Experiential.
Can You Walk The Walk? is an immersive VR experience that invites users to simulate Philippe Petit’s historic and death-defying high-wire walk between the towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Petit trained for years to make his ‘coup’ possible; now with VR that feat has been made possible to experience for everyone. The experience was designed for use with the PlayStation VR headset and was available for consumers to try recently at select IMAX theatres and a number of industry events including Siggraph and CineEurope.
“We are truly privileged to have been able to develop this extraordinary virtual reality experience for The Walk for our partners at Sony Pictures and Sony PlayStation,” said David Stern, Owner and Founder of Create Advertising Group, the parent company of CreateVR in a statement. “Extending movie marketing in this magical way creates a unique and memorable bond between the consumer and the brand and we look forward to bringing more innovative VR experiences to the market very soon.”
VRFocus will continue to follow the work of CreateVR as it develops new promotional experiences.
