Dafne is a VR Space Exploration Videogame ‘about being a woman’

Back in October 2015 VRFocus reported that Carlos Coronado, the developer behind virtual reality (VR) compatible adventure, MIND: Path to Thalamus, was working on a new project for the technology. At the time the developer wasn’t ready to offer any details on the new title but, in the past few weeks, has offered a first glimpse. The project is called Dafne and is described as a ‘space exploration game about being a woman’ that’s coming to the Gear VR mobile-based head-mounted display (HMD) from Samsung and Oculus VR.

Coronado revealed a first look of the title on his Twitter account, but also gave a small explanation to WCCF Tech in a recent interview. “I am working on Dafne, a game for Gear VR,” he noted. “It is going to be a space exploration game about being a woman. Don’t want to say much about it right now. It is nearly finished and it is going to ROCK! Oh, and it is a puzzle game where you move and solve stuff just using your head.” No other details such as a possible release timeframe have been revealed at this point.

Some images of the title have surfaced online and can be seen below. One was taken from the Twitter account for MIND: Path to Thalamus, which asked: “A new secret level of MIND or a new project from @CarlosGameDev?”

This isn’t all that Coronado is working on in VR. While MIND: Path to Thalamus is already available for PC, it’s also coming to PlayStation 4 with support for the PlayStation VR HMD. The developer has also confirmed that it is targeting either 90fps or 120fps for the port, both of which are supported by PlayStation VR’s 1080p OLED display.

Stay tuned to VRFocus for any further updates to Coronado’s work in VR.
