Social Gaming App Released for Google Cardboard

Virtual reality (VR) is often a platform used to immerse yourself into a virtual world that you can manipulate without having much effect on the real world around you. However a new social experience, The Puppet Master, has tried a different take on the emerging platform, with an experience for one player to directly manipulate how others physically act using the Google Cardboard headset.

Developed by a team from Estonia, Puppet Master allows one player to send commands from a smart device to the other users’ headsets who only depend on the information they see. In the video below it features various users attempting to kick footballs and throw cardboard boxes at one another, demonstrating how the smart device user controls them with simple controls displayed on their device.

In a press release the team described the app they developed, saying: “Imagine controlling one’s friend the same way as an RC car – giving various commands from a smart device straight into others’ cardboard-VR, transforming a computerized world into real-life social gaming with biorobots!”

The android VR app is available now on the Google Play store for free, rated PEGI 3, and can be downloaded here.
