COLOPL NI Announces Move into VR Gaming Under New CEO

Earlier this year VRFocus reported on Japanese mobile videogame company COLOPL announcing it would be investing $50 million USD in virtual reality (VR) videogame development. Now its American subsidiary COLOPL NI has revealed it’ll be moving into VR, and as part of the strategy the company has promoted Jikhan Jung to CEO.

COLOPL NI was only established in April 2015, it aims to recruit top talent for its VR videogaming focused development, through signing new external projects and studios alongside its own in-house development. COLOPL NI’s aim is to release multiple VR titles annually, with the first launching this year.

Jung, who was previously COO, has been involved in the videogame market for over 15 years, having been CEO and Co-Founder of Gala-Net and Executive Producer at Kabam. “COLOPL Group believes that Virtual Reality will be a totally new platform that changes our daily life, as The Internet changed our life 20 years ago. We will strive to develop VR games which provide the best VR experience so players don’t want to come back to the real lives,” said Jung in a statement. “We plan to develop outstanding VR games and I am excited to ramp up our COLOPL NI team to succeed in the new VR reality.”

With the upcoming Game Developers Conference (GDC) next week in San Francisco, COLOPL NI will be there to look for talent and talk with VR developers. VRFocus will be reporting from GDC all week, bringing you the latest news and announcements.
