Frontier Developments has a long history with the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) and its popular space simulation title, Elite: Dangerous. The studio was one of the first to truly support the device’s first and second development kits, but ran into troubles later last year with regular releases of new Oculus Rift software development kits (SDKs). Much to the relief of fans, though these issues have been overcome and support for the consumer version is ready from today, the launch of the Oculus Rift itself.
VRFocus recently spoke to Frontier Developments’ Marketing Manager, Jo Cooke, about the project. In the interview below Cooke talks about the process of bringing Oculus Rift support to the title, and its integration with its new season of content, titled Elite Dangerous: Horizons.
