Horror Title Amigdala Launches for Oculus Rift

A new horror experience arrives for the virtual reality device.

There’s a fair bit of software jostling for position on the Oculus Rift. 30 titles were confirmed for the head-mounted display (HMD) at GDC 2016 earlier this month, and since then more have surface. The latest to be revealed is Amigdala, a virtual reality (VR) horror experience from one-man developer Germano Guida, appearing on Steam.

Amigdala, as the description describes it, is based around: “Gherman,a middle-aged man who has abandoned all to find what lies behind the “Philadelphia experiment”.11 years after the experiment, Gherman found a document that marked the coordinates of the project’s military establishment. Certainly he didn’t expect to find so much…”

In this puzzle horror experience you are given very few tools, just a torch and a lighter.  This isn’t a shooter, so you’ll have no weapons to hand should you come across something nasty. It’s a similar mechanic to other VR horror titles like White Dorr Games’ Dreadhalls.

Created using Unreal Engine 4, Amigdala is Guida’s first VR videogame, teaching himself through its development. It’s currently on sale in the Steam store with a 15 per cent discount, retailing for £6.79 GBP instead of £7.99 GBP until 4th April.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of the latest Oculus Rift videogames, reporting back on the newest releases.
