HTC ‘Committed’ to Over 50 Titles for Launch of HTC Vive

Virtual reality headset manufacturer HTC reveals there’ll be over 50 titles available for HTC Vive at launch.

It’s the second day of the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016, and it’s set to be a busy one with Sony Computer Entertainments (SCE) press conference happening later on. The virtual reality (VR) headset manufacturers have been out in force with Oculus VR and HTC gearing up for the imminent release of their head-mounted displays (HMDs) Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. The Taiwanese multinational is ensuring its headset has a strong launch after indicating over 50 titles will be available.

Talking yesterday Dan O’Brien, Vice President of VR at HTC, said “We’re already committed to over 50 VR titles at launch.” This is a significant amount of software to have ready for its inaugural launch on 5th April, giving those that have pre-ordered HTC Vive’s a lot of choice when their headset arrives.

So which videogames will be available? HTC probably hasn’t revealed all of them, it’s not revealed an official list as of yet, but ones that are included are: Marble Mountain, Cloudlands: VR Mini Golf, Jeeboman, A-10 VR, Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption, Hover Junkers, Tilt Brush and Final Approach.

Pre-orders for the HTC Vive went live on 29th February with a price of $799 USD / £689.00 GBP. For that consumers get the HMD, two motion-tracked wireless controllers, two Lighthouse Room Scale base stations and assorted accessories. There’s also a limited free content bundle consisting of Job Simulator, Fantastic Contraption and Tilt Brush. Those that got in early will see their headsets arrive in April, whereas if you order one now it’ll be May before it arrives.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of HTC Vive and GDC 2016, reporting back any new updates.
