Mindfield Games Reveal P.O.L.L.E.N Launch Date for Oculus Rift

The exploration title will be arriving next month.

Way back in August 2014 Mindfield Games announced its sci-fi exploration project P.O.L.L.E.N for PC, with virtual reality (VR) support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Today the studio has revealed a new gameplay preview trailer as well as a launch date for the title.

P.O.L.L.E.N will launch via Steam and Humble on 20th April for PC, with a near-final VR beta release for Oculus Rift also. It’ll then be fully optimised for VR with new updates shortly after this date. The title will also support the HTC Vive and PlayStation VR HMDs, although Mindfield Games hasn’t yet specified when that support will arrive.

“We’ve been crafting P.O.L.L.E.N for two and a half years, beginning on the earliest Oculus development kits, and we’re thrilled for players to soon experience it for themselves with the game’s full PC launch and the initial beta rollout of our VR edition,” said Olli Sinerma, co-founder of Mindfield Games. “P.O.L.L.E.N offers a uniquely captivating experience for each platform: a fiercely original and eerie first-person exploration game on traditional monitors, and a fully immersive virtual reality adventure that completely transports players to the surface of Saturn’s largest moon, Titan.”

P.O.L.L.E.N‘s story takes places in an alternate universe in which President John F. Kennedy survives the historic attempt on his life. In turn NASA and Russia being working together in the space race, establishing a moon base. Players will explore ‘Station M’, a facility on Titan that appears deserted, investigating what happened to its crew.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of P.O.L.L.E.N, reporting back with any further announcements.
