More Content Confirmed for Oculus Rift Launch

More virtual reality videogames will be available for gamers to experience.

Today’s the day the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) launches, with devices starting to reach consumers who originally backed Oculus VR’s Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign in 2012. At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2016, the company revealed thirty titles would be available from day one, but it seems there’s going to be even more than that.

Recently confirmed to also be arriving today are: Alpha Wave Entertainment’s Euclidean; The Body VR from Moshe Ben-Zacharia; FIRMA by Think Heavy Ltd; COLOSSE; Viewpoint Games’ VR Karts; Immersive Entertainment’s The Grand Canyon VR Experience; Subnautica from  Unknown Worlds Entertainment ; ZeroTransform’s Proton Pulse Plus and Time Machine VR by Minority Media. These add a sizeable increase to the Oculus Rift’s already impressive line-up of software, giving gamers lots of choices for virtual reality (VR) experiences.

While mobile VR has been out for a while through devices like Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR HMDs, today marks the first of the major headsets to arrive with consumers. Next week Valve and HTC’s collaboration the HTC Vive will launch, bringing Room Scale tracking to peoples homes. And in October Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) will launch its PlayStation VR for PlayStation 4, which is expected to be popular due to the large install base of the console.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of all the latest VR news, reporting back any further announcements.
