Gaijin Entertainment Confirm VR Support for Crossout

Gaijin Entertainment to bring VR support to Crossout during closed beta testing phase.

Following the launch of a closed beta for Gaijin Entertainment’s Crossout, developer Gaijin Entertainment has officially confirmed that virtual reality (VR) support is in development for the title. Gaijin Entertainment’s War Thunder already supports various head-mounted displays (HMDs) and is confirmed for PlayStation VR, while no specific formats have yet been confirmed for Crossout.

The post-apocalyptic vehicle combat massively multiplayer online (MMO) videogame is now undergoing a closed beta test, with Gaijin Entertainment intending to add new content – including VR support – as the testing phase continues. Gaijin Entertainment had previously discussed the possibility of adding VR support to Crossout with VRFocus, stating:

“There are things in Crossout – you build your own vehicle – and it’s actually easier to do in VR because, again, we don’t do very well at 3D thinking, we just see with our own eyes. At the same time, there’s a lot of small things, numbers and when you create your car you want it not only to be looking great but also efficient. So we’ll make experiments on that, but the actual answer will depend on the resolution and the persistency of the device and we just got dev kits so the answer is unfortunately not yet clear,” offered Anton Yudintsev, CEO at Gaijin Entertainment. “We need a high resolution to basically read the text and numbers and, at the same time, of course virtual reality helps to build creative things.”

For players who have not previously tried Crossout an application process is now available on the videogame’s official website. There’s currently no timeline being applied to the VR support for Crossout, but of course VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details.
