Ghost Theory Dev to Re-launch Kickstarter Campaign

Indie studio Dreadlocks reveals it’ll be bringing Ghost Theory back to Kickstarter.

Back in January this year indie developer Dreadlocks announced a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign first-person ghost hunting adventure title built primarily for virtual reality (VR) called Ghost Theory. The studio looked to secure £100,000 funding for the project, but ended up cancelling it due to only attaining just under £18,000 by the fourth week. Now the team has revealed it’ll be re-launching the Kickstarter because of all the positive feedback received.

Around the same time Ghost Theory also went onto Steam Greenlight where it got Greenlit by the community in a few days, hitting #3 out of 1945 videogames. And it’s this positive reaction that has spurred Dreadlocks onto bringing back its funding campaign during April. No date has yet been given for the re-launch but the studio has released a new pre-alpha teaser trailer to wet gamers appetites.

Ghost Theory casts players as a gifted paranormal investigator able to catch glimpses of ghosts. Travelling the world, you’ll investigate real-life haunted buildings using all the tools modern science can provide, collecting data and upgrading equipment as you go.

Dreadlocks has designed the title for exploration as much as horror. You’ll be able to wander the levels to uncover the mysteries behind each haunting, using the characters clairvoyance to experience visions of previous events to aid your investigation.

The title will support a wide range of platforms, including PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One. The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs) will both be compatible with the videogame.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Ghost Theory, reporting back on the next announcement from Dreadlocks.
