Oculus Rifts Now to Ship Within 2 to 4 Working Days and All Pre-Orders Have Been Delivered

No more waiting around, and not just for the Rift as the Touch is on its way too.

The dark cloud above Oculus VR’s head seems to be lifting and drifting away following the many hiccups encountered when trying to deliver all of the pre-ordered Oculus Rifts on time. It has now been announced that all of those much anticipated head-mounted displays (HMD) that were pre-ordered have all been safely delivered to consumers, and those wanting to order the Rift now can expect it to ship within a much shorter timeframe than what has been previously experienced.

When consumers pre-ordered their Oculus Rift HMDs, they expected their purchase to arrive months earlier than what they did, resulting in a nightmare situation for Oculus VR being one of the earliest VR pioneers but latest to fulfill their pre-order list. In a blog post by Oculus, the news that all pre-orders had been successful was shared alongside an apology: “We want to apologize for the delays in getting Rifts to doorsteps. We appreciate that without your support, VR wouldn’t be where it is today. Thank you for your patience over the past few months.”

Not only will those who pre-ordered be cheered up, but prospective customers who are still deciding whether or not to purchase the HMD can be assured that they will not experience the same level of delays. It has been said that new Rift orders from the official Oculus website are shipping within two to four business days.

Oculus VR seems to be getting its game together all at once, and has also informed us that there are more Rift demos and branches of retail shops who will be selling the HMD: “We’ve also started to ramp up inventory for retail partners online and in stores, and added more Rift demos at new retail locations across the US. Starting this month, you’ll be able to get your hands on Rift at select Microsoft Stores. In addition, our demo space will expand at Best Buy to more than 500 US stores now through the fall.”

On top of getting the Rift on track, it is also said that the launch of Touch is on its way “and introduce true hand presence along with an amazing lineup of games and experiences later this year.”

There will be more to find out during Oculus Connect 3 this year, so check back with VRFocus for the latest from Oculus VR.
