Sayonara Umihara Kawase Receives Oculus Rift Support

This cult title now has Rift support as well as HTC Vive.

Sayonara Umihara Kawase, a cult classic side scroller title, recently received Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) support, as the developers Studio Saizensen announced on its Steam Store page.

Although it can be questioned how its Oculus Rift support would really enhance this side scroller, Sayonara Umihara Kawase is one of a trilogy based on the PlayStation Vita version. What this title is all about – for those who don’t know what it is – is a Japanese sushi chef called Umihara Kawase, who is armed with fishing tools to fight against fish-like enemies. This title also has HTC Vive support as of this June.

Essentially, this is a physics-based puzzle that challenges your reflexes and brainpower, where there are many stages with branching paths across the three games. There are four playable characters in this particular title, where you can face giant, aquatic bosses, such as tadpoles, seahorses, and more.

It is advised that the tightening the line or giving lots of slack can be the difference between success or failure. “The elastic nature of the fishing line allows the player to stretch down to otherwise unreachable areas or be catapulted upwards.”

Sayonara Umihara Kawase is currently available on Steam for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive for £10.99 (GBP), and the whole trilogy is availabe for £22.99.
