Yesterday VRFocus reported on Broken Window Studios open world horror experience Grave, of which no information had been released since early 2015. The developer is creating a separate virtual reality (VR) videogame for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD), built from the ground up for the headsets Room Scale technology. Now the studio has revealed Grave will launch on HTC Vive in time for Halloween next month.
No specific date has yet been revealed just that it’ll be in time for the annual day of dressing up as scary monsters, trick-or-treating and pumpkin carving on 31st October.
Broken Window Studios still plans to launch the full Grave title on consoles and PC for standard monitors, with the VR version going down the road of an epilogue story. It’ll feature a few characters that will be important to the full videogame, provide more info on the Grave universe, and give a taste of several of the monsters that will appear in the full Grave experience. The developer has said that since the project has grown over the last year it wanted to give something to VR players a little earlier.
Grave is a horror experience set in a surreal, procedurally generated landscape based around the Arizona desert. The title features an important day/night cycle where players can explore, finding useful items to help them later on, especially at night. As once the sun goes down the scares start to kick in. Lurking in the dark are strange creatures that will stalk players relentlessly until dawn. One of the main mechanics in the videogame is light, whether that’s matches, torches or anything else that provides illumination, these all help to ward off the monsters hiding in the shadows.
As Broken Window Studios releasing further information about the upcoming launch of Grave, VRFocus will let you know.
