Oculus Connect 3 Will Be Live-Streamed On Twitch and NextVR

Grab your Gear VR or head to Twitch to see the live-stream next week.

The next couple of weeks are going to be an exciting time for virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts, with Oculus Connect 3 (OC3) and Google’s conference taking place next week and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) launching the PlayStation VR the week after. The main news expected from OC3 is Oculus Touch, the company’s motion controllers and for the majority of people who want to watch the proceedings there’s going two be a couple of different ways to do that.

Oculus’ CTO John Carmack confirmed via his Twitter that not only would OC3 be live-streamed through Twitch but it’ll also get a VR stream through NextVR’s app. Most VR fans should know of NextVR – especially regular readers of VRFocus – as it’s synonymous with live-streaming sporting events such as NBA games, ICC soccer matches, the Kentucky Derby, the US Open, the Daytona 500 alongside concerts as well. NextVR currently only supports the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD), so if you don’t have the headset you’ll be watching OC3 via Twitch.

Oculus Touch

While OC3 will have lots of software announcements its Oculus Touch that a lot of people will be interested in. The motion controllers have been doing the rounds at several events including the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, Gamescom last month and they even showed up at EGX last week. Oculus itself has been quiet on the actual launch date and price for the device, simply stating Fall 2016, so expect that to be announced at the event. In terms of the price that’s already been confirmed – for the UK at least – by retailer GAME. Last week a user on Twitter spotted a pre-order advertising board in one of GAME’s shops with a price tag of £189.99 GBP, and that a £50 deposit was required.

The one piece of information Oculus hasn’t been cagey about regarding Touch is the software that’ll be available. Launch titles so far confirmed include: Unspoken, Dead & Buried, Rock Band VR, VR Sports Challengeby Sanzaru, The Climb, Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope, Pro Fishing Challenge VR, I Expect You to Die, Luna, Giant Cop, Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives, and Fantastic Contraption.
