Phoenix Online Studios has revealed that the recently released The Silver Lining: Haunted Castle Experience, based on the King’s Quest fan-developed series, The Silver Lining, will soon receive a virtual reality (VR) compatibility update. Set to utilise the unique features of the HTC Vive, The Silver Lining: Haunted Castle Experience is currently free to download.
The Silver Lining: Haunted Castle Experience sets the player on a walk through a haunted version of the Isle of the Crown, as well as creepy versions of scenes and characters from previous episodes of The Silver Lining. In the first four episodes of The Silver Lining, King Graham stumbled into becoming part of a thousand-year-old prophecy concerning the mysterious Shadrack, leader of the Black Cloak Society. The forthcoming fifth episode will see Graham journey into the land of dreams to free their children from a sleeping curse and confront their enemies in one final stand of darkness and light.
“We’ve been steadily working on Episode 5 for a long time, and we’re finally at a point where we feel we can confidently promise it will be out next year,” said Katie Hallahan, PR Director and co-designer of The Silver Lining. “The Haunted Castle Experience is a unique way to give a sneak peek of what’s to come while having some fun with the Halloween season, plus we got to test the waters with a VR-compatible experience. And this is just the beginning of the lead-up for Episode 5. There’ll be more news coming as we get into 2017 and closer to announcing a definite release date.”
The Silver Lining: Haunted Castle Experience is available for free exclusively at the Phoenix Online Store for PC, with Mac, Linux and VR-compatible with the HTC Vive versions coming soon. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on The Silver Lining’s VR endeavours.
