ESPN Unveils Two College Football Experiences on Jaunt

Both videos are free to view through the Jaunt app.

Cinematic 360-degree video apps such as Jaunt and Littlstar are a popular way to enjoy immersive experiences on virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs). These experiences can range from animation, documentaries and sci-fi, to concerts and sporting events. Jaunt has become one of the most well known and recently launched two new videos on its service – as part of its partnership with ESPN – Jacob Jarvis: Why It Matters and The Game: Michigan at Ohio State.

Both videos came about through the Disney Accelerator programme which concluded back in October 2016. Disney held a Demo Day during which Jaunt announced its partnership with ESPN to film several of this season’s College GameDay stops in VR, offering viewers behind the scenes access to the iconic show, tailgates, interviews and sideline action.

Jaunt-ESPN World View

Jaunt’s created a dedicated section inside the VR app for the content, ESPN World, currently housing just those two videos. Jacob Jarvis: Why It Matters features 17-year-old boy Jacob Jarvis who’s been adopted by the Ohio State Buckeyes as he battles Muscular Dystrophy. While The Game: Michigan at Ohio State gives viewers an all-access pass to experience the Michigan/Ohio State game which needed double overtime to decide a winner.

The Jaunt app can be found on most VR headsets including Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, iOS and Android for Google Cardboard and most recently Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) PlayStation VR.
