Experience the Music of VIRGO in VR This Summer with Water Planet

The title will support both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift at launch.

The music industry embraced virtual reality (VR) technology a couple of years ago, with artists producing 360-degree videos or fully immersive VR pieces. Today, The Revera Corporation – a Miami-based music label and game publisher – has announced its in-house artist VIRGO will be releasing a VR video game this summer called Water Planet.

Designed as a first-person exploration game, the experience is set on a mysterious blue planet. Cast in the role of an interstellar traveller, players must gather resources from the planet to continue their mission, whilst uncovering the secrets of this world. Whilst venturing deep into endless oceans or high atop mountains, discovering hidden temples and monuments, players will will be able to listen to the atmospheric synths, basslines, and dreamy vocals of VIRGO’s Water Planet E.P.

“Water Planet is a powerful example of the environment we’re creating for our artists. We want to enable them to cross the sound barrier into the visual world and tell their stories in the most immersive medium we know: Virtual Reality,” said Jason Cole, Project Director, The Revera Corporation.

The experience started life as a visual accompaniment to VIRGO’s live performances, which mix house, trance and future beats music genres. Revera Corp’s debut VR experience then completed  a successful Steam Greenlight campaign, becoming popular with the Steam community.

Water Planet is set to launch on Steam for PC, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift this summer. The team plan to release more information on the video game and their plans in the coming months, so for further details on Water Planet, keep reading VRFocus.
