USA Today Livestreaming Presidential Inauguration in 360

All the coverage will be on USA Today’s YouTube channel.

This coming Friday Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the next President of the United States, an event that will have the eyes of the world watching. For the inauguration, the USA Today Network will livestream the event in 360-degrees.

Viewers will be able to watch via multiple 360-degree Nikon cameras, positioned at the Capitol, the National Mall, and along the inaugural parade route. Nikon is working exclusively with the network, creating customized KeyMission 360 cameras that offer livestreaming and in-camera stitching.

USA Today’s immersive coverage of the inauguration will be the first livestreamed content produced by the network for its VRtually There show. Launched in October 2016 as an ad-supported weekly VR show, the program has reached more than five million views on multiple platforms.

“We’re excited for the next iteration of our VR storytelling with the livestream of the presidential inauguration,” said Russ Torres, Vice President of Video Content for USA Today Network. “We believe that VR offers a unique storytelling ability, and we will continue to provide our readers with the opportunity to experience events such as the inauguration like never before.”

To watch the 360-degree livestream on a VR headset tune into the USA Today channel via the YouTube app on 20th January at 9:30am ET. If you don’t have a headset to hand you can still watch in 360-degree’s on the same YouTube channel on desktop or smartphone.
