Bundle Price Revealed for Farpoint with Aim Controller on PSVR

The title will also feature an online co-op mode.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) went all out to demo its PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD). Among the many booths was an area dedicated to newly announced title Farpoint, and an accompanying peripheral, the Aim controller. Several months later, US retailer Gamestop listed pricing and launch details on its website, and now its been confirmed they weren’t far of the mark.

Farpoint will launch in the US and Canada on 16th May, with a European release a day later. Impulse Gear’s videogame will be available as a standalone title or gamers can purchase it in a bundle with the Aim controller. On its own – either as a physical or digital copy – Farpoint will retail for $49.99 USD/$59.99 CAN/€59.99 EUR/£49.99 GBP. While the bundle will cost $79.99/$99.99/€89.99/£74.99.

For those PlayStation VR owners keen to dive into the action on day one, both the bundle and standalone game can be pre-ordered. As a bonus for those early adopters, a Red Planet Wanderer Spacesuit – an exclusive skin to wear in-game – will be available.

Another new piece of information has also surfaced. Up until this point Farpoint was only touted as a single-player experience, in fact it’ll feature online co-op as well. In a posting on PlayStation.Blog, Seth Luisi, Co-founder at Impulse Gear wrote: “In addition to the full single-player campaign, sharing the virtual world of Farpoint in co-op has been a key objective of the project from the beginning.

“Farpoint features four new online co-op levels at launch — each level designed to challenge the combined firepower of two players with teams competing for the highest score.”

Built specifically for virtual reality (VR) and PlayStation VR, Farpoint is a first-person shooter (FPS) set on a hostile alien world. Players will find themselves stranded on this uncharted planet, with their only way off being to locate a crashed space station – The Pilgrim – and its survivors to find a way back home.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Farpoint, reporting back with any further updates.
