Sony Santa Monica’s Jacquie Shriver Heads-Up New VR Production Studio SIDE LA

SIDE LA targets VR development with voice over and performance capture support.

SIDE, best known for its award winning voice over and performance capture work on titles such as Battlefield 1, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has today revealed plans to expand into the US market. SIDE LA, a new studio announced today, will be fronted by Sony Santa Monica veteran Jacquie Shriver.

Parent company Pole to Win International (PTWI) will open the audio production studio following a successful partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) for PlayStation VR software. The studio will officially open in Los Angeles on 23rd March 2017, with Shriver, previously Casting and Talent Manager at SIE working on titles such as the God of War series, Days Gone, The Order: 1886 and Insomniac Games’ forthcoming Spider-Man, acting as Head of Studio. Brendan Dane and James Battley will be joining SIDE LA as Sound Engineers and Nick Lanza has been appointed as Production Manager.

Deborah Kirkham, President & COO of PTWI, said ”The launch of SIDE LA is an important milestone consolidating our audio production services within a client-centric turnkey solution spanning the US, Europe and Asia. Audio services are now fully integrated worldwide with Pole To Win’s suite of creative, technical and multilingual services.”

According to PTWI, the launch of SIDE LA will bring to the US the casting, directing and recording services of SIDE’s global headquarters in London and SIDE Shanghai, along with PTWI’s network of over 30 locations worldwide. This globally-integrated network gives clients flexible access to voice talent covering dialects and accents across English, Latin American, European and Asian language groups, provided by centrally managed and locally delivered in-territory service models.

VRFocus has reached out to PTWI to learn more about the services SIDE LA will offer to the VR development community, and will report back with a full Q&A very soon.
