VRTGO Developer Day makes a return

VRTGO Developer Day will be on 23rd March in Gateshead, UK

The organisers of VRTGO have announced that the Developer Day will be returning for 2017 after a successful debut in 2016.

A spin-off of the successful VRTGO conference, the Developer Day is a one-day event for people working or studying in the virtual reality (VR) area. It is designed as primarily a technical day for programmers and engineers to get insights into best practice and the latest developments in VR technology. Several speakers for the event are already organised, including Khronos Group, Atomhawk, Coatsink, Bigman and others.

Dan Gilmore, head of Atomhawk’s User Interface team, will be talking about the challenges of designing UI for VR, using practical examples from titles he has worked on, such as Eve: Valkyrie. He said: “The VRTGO Developer Events provide us with a unique perspective on the current state of the virtual reality industry; not just facts and figures but real practical advice to make sure we stay at the forefront of this face moving industry.”

Also doing a talk will be Tom Painter, Director of Bigman will be speaking about Creating Mixed Reality Video. Painter has worked extensively in the film industry on films such as Harry Potter.

Tech recruitment agency NRG will also be there and are acting as one of the events sponsors. A NRG spokesperson said: “NRG is all about introducing talented professionals to exciting businesses, therefore, we are delighted to sponsor this event which showcases and builds future relationships between the best developers and technology providers in the VR industry.”

The VRTGO Developers Day will take place on the 23rd March at the Northern Design Centre in Newcastle Gateshead, UK. Tickets are available through the Eventbrite page and cost £50 (GBP) for a standard ticket, or £12 (GBP) for a student ticket.
