North American and European Release Dates Confirmed for Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle

The bullet-hell battle game arrives this summer.

In February VRFocus reported on NIS America announcing Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle would see a European and North American release this summer for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation VR. Now the developer has confirmed the exact dates for the two territories.

The bullet-hell battle videogame will hit European shores on 30th June, 2017, as a physical and digital copy for PlayStation 4, while for North America the release date is 4th July, 2017.

Featuring both single-player and local/online multiplayer for up to two players, Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle challenges players to eliminate their opponent using a mixture of ranged and melee attacks along with spell cards for a mixture of gameplay strategies. With nine characters to choose from, players be able to perform dashes, double-jumps, and mid-air dashes in a bid to out manoeuvre opponents and gain the upper hand.

In terms of the storyline the official description states: “Reimu is spending her time at the Hakurei Shrine like any other day until a few people visiting the shrine spoke of rumours that a vampire is joining forces with the yokais to assault human beings. Concerned, Reimu steps up and goes to the Scarlet Devil Mansion to investigate the vampire. What mysterious figure is behind all of these escalating attacks…?”

For those fans of Touhou universe who want to get their hands on the videogame as soon as possible, NIS America has a couple of pre-order options available via its website. The first is a standard edition for $29.99 USD, or a limited edition for $49.99. The limited edition includes: the videogame, a hardcover art book, 1-disc original soundtrack, a set of nine magnets and a collector’s box with exclusive new artwork.
