Enter the Arena to Play Energetic Sports Title Sparc on PlayStation VR Today

Currently exclusive to the headset, Sparc will be coming to Oculus Rift and HTC Vive in the future.

Today, EVE: Valkyrie developer CCP Games has launched its next virtual reality (VR), energetic sports combat experience Sparc for PlayStation VR.

Sparc is a skill-based, physical sport, where two players use PlayStation Move motion controllers to aim and throw projectiles at each other inside a virtual arena, all the while defending themselves by dodging, blocking, or deflecting incoming attacks from their opponent.

Players can join one-on-one matches with friends online, or find opponents via matchmaking. The title includes multiple two-player game modes and three different arenas, as well as customisation options to personalise the compression suit, headgear and knuckle guards for example.

“From learning the basics of the game to perfecting a trick shot that drops into an opponent’s strike zone at the last second, gamers of all skill levels will be able to compete in Sparc‘s dynamic physical gameplay,” said Morgan Godat, Sparc’s executive producer at CCP Games in a statement.

If players want to take a break from the action they can meet opponents, watch matches, or queue up their next match in “Courtside,” Sparc‘s freeform social area that allows for spectating in VR.

“Players connecting and competing in Sparc’s online community are participating in what we consider one of the most groundbreaking gaming experiences in virtual reality to date,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “We’re excited to launch Sparc first on PS VR and giving a great number of players the opportunity to experience its instantly compelling gameplay for themselves.”

Presently Sparc’s only available for PlayStation VR for an exclusive period. After which it’ll arrive on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

PlayStation VR owners can download Sparc now for $29.99 USD/ €29.99 EUR/£22.99 GBP from the PlayStation.Store. For any further updates, keep reading VRFocus.
