I Expect You to Die New 1

Schell Games’ I Expect You To Die Surpasses $1M in Revenue

To celebrate the milestone, the studio has published a new mixed reality video.

In December 2016 Schell Games released its escape room style virtual reality (VR) title I Expect You To Die alongside the launch of Oculus Touch, as well as bringing to PlayStation VR. Then a few months later HTC Vive received support as well. Today the studio has unveiled a milestone achievement, earning more than $1 million USD in eight months.

Showcasing the importance of releasing VR titles across multiple formats, this figure is a combined sales figure from all three headsets. To celebrate, Schell Games created a mixed reality (MR) video featuring a newly recruited agent played by Senior Designer Shawn Patton. It chronicles the successes and failures of the new recruit and offers him advice for his future. The trailer also marks the first time the team has created an MR trailer for I Expect You To Die.

“Our IEYTD team worked incredibly hard to create an enjoyable and immersive escape-the-room experience for players. To reach this $1 million threshold is another indication that our hard work is appreciated,” remarked Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games in a statement. “We love how enthusiastic our fans have been toward the game, and we hope they will enjoy this hilarious mixed reality video we’ve developed. In the very near future, we look forward to providing them with even more content for the game.”

In addition to the revenue success Schell Games will be releasing new content for I Expect You To Die. While details on what that might be is being kept quiet for now the studio will be releasing it by the end of 2017.
