Windows 10 Fall Creators Update date

All Windows Mixed Reality Headsets Launching with Fall Creators Update in October

You can already pre-order most of the headsets.

Today Microsoft has held one of the few livestreamed press conferences this week during IFA in Germany. There’s been plenty of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) news from the conference with the Redmond-based company leaving a big reveal for today. The Windows Mixed Reality headsets which have all been slated for a Fall 2017 release will be available to consumers from 17th October.

Whether you’ve had your eye on the Dell Visor, Lenovo Explorer, Acer, HP or Asus headsets, they’ll all be available on the same day, which also happens to be the date that Microsoft releases its Fall Creators Update for Windows 10.

Whilst all the form factors are different the actual internals are the same, featuring HoloLens technology for inside-out tracking in a more consumer affordable form. So they’ll feature two 2.89-inch displays at 1440×1440 resolution per eye with a refresh rate of 90Hz, and a 95 degree field of view (FOV).

Prices will start from $299.00 USD for just the headset, while there will be bundles available which will feature the motion controllers, retailing up to £449. The Acer and HP devices are currently available for pre-order through the Microsoft store.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Windows Mixed Reality, reporting back with further updates.
