L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files Delayed

Reports indicate that L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files will be held back until December. L.A. Noire remaster will be released as planned.

The announcement of a HD remake of Rockstar’s L.A. Noire generated a great deal of interest when it was initially announced. Also featured as part of that announcement was word that some of the missions from the title would be converted into virtual reality (VR) for L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files. Now it seems VR users will need to wait a little longer for a VR trip into the world of L.A. Noire.

L.A. Noire was originally released in 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The story put the player in the role of 1940’s detective Cole Phelps, who is tracking down the source of a crime wave that has struck the city of Los Angeles. The title was ground-breaking at the time of release for its heavy use of sophisticated facial capture technology which allowed characters to express complex emotions.

The remastered version of L.A. Noire is due to be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on 14th November, 2017, with L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files being released on the same date. According to industry insiders, a TakeTwo Interactive earnings call held last night revealed that while the release of the L.A. Noire remaster was still going ahead as planned, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files was being delayed until December. There has as of yet been no reason given for the delay.

L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files is set to feature seven cases from the original L.A. Noire videogame recreated in VR and is planned to be released for HTC Vive. There has been no word on any plans to port the title to any other VR platforms.

A hands-on preview of L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files will be coming tomorrow for a more in depth look at what is in store.

VRFocus has contacted Rockstar Games for more information on the reason for the delay, and will keep you informed as to any further developments.
