Abilities Expo Showcases VR Technology

Mieron will be demonstrating its cutting edge VR Neurotherapy technology at the Abilities Expo.

People attending the Abilities Expo will have an opportunity to test out a cutting-edge technology that uses virtual reality (VR) to improve outcomes of physical therapy.

The Abilities Expo has run in various forms for almost 40 years, offering a community for people with disabilities as well as their families, seniors, veterans and healthcare professionals. Each event is designed to showcase new technologies and new opportunities.

The VR Neurotherapy technology is being demonstrated by Mieron. The company has created the activities and exercises based on principles of physical therapy, sensory integration and neuro-recovery which has been designed to fit the needs of patients.

Use of the Mieron VR system is currently undergoing clinical trials and is available at selected healthcare centres. The system uses the Google Daydream VR platform, where a library of over two dozen VR experiences for Mieron are available.

Admission to the Abilities Expo is free. The event is due to take place from 23rd-25th February, 2018 at the LA Convention Centre in Los Angeles. Complimentary scooters, wheelchair repair and sign language interpreters are available during show hours.

The Abilities Expo will be hosting some of the latest technologies, products and services for people with a wide range of disabilities, including medical equipment, home accessories and products for people with sensory impairments. A range of workshops and discussions are also planned.

Attendees at the Expo will have a chance to meet five paralympians from a range of sporting disciplines, including cycling, sitting volleyball, sit skiing, rowing and track & field in order to dhow attendees that Olympic dreams can still be within reach.
