The Farm Animals Want Revenge in Mad Farm

Animals are on the attack in upcoming madcap wave shooter from indie developer Happy Bat.

Zombie people are everyone’s favourite cannon fodder. Zombie people have been used so much they’ve become old hat. What about zombie animals though? Chickens and cows with a craving for human flesh are your foes in Mad Farm.

Indie developer Happy Bat are working on bringing Mad Farm to Steam, where it will support Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

The player takes the role of a farmer who discovers that his placid and peaceful life has been disrupted by a terrible virus that has turned his farm animals into undead monsters. Armed with simple tools such as a bow and arrow, axe or sling, you need to fight off the blood-thirsty animals that come looking to eat your tasty flesh.

At launch, the title will have three maps, the farm, a forest and a boss fight, all rendered in blocky, brightly coloured graphics that highlight the bonkers nature of the title. Chickens will try and suicide bomb you and bulls will try to impale you on their horns, meaning you will need to cut them down first using one of the five available weapon types.

Despite the tongue-in-cheek premise, the developers have applied realistic physics to make weapons act similar to how they would in the real world. On launch, there will be three game modes available; a story mode featuring what the developer promises will be a ‘bloody twist’, an arcade mode where the aim is to beat your high score and a training mode containing a selection of mini-games.

“This has been an incredible journey for us and to finally announce the release, after so many shifts that we did, brings nothing but excitement to our team,” Happy Bat said.

Mad Farm is due for release on Steam on 10th March, where it will be priced at $9.99 (USD). The developer has promised further expansions in future updates.
