Stunning Space Adventure Detached Confirmed for PlayStation VR Release

But you’ll have to wait until July.

After a successful Early Access launch in 2016 followed by a full release in 2017 for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, Anshar Studios’ space-based virtual reality (VR) title Detached has now been confirmed for PlayStation VR.

Detached is an exploration VR game set in cold space, aboard an abandoned space station. Originally designed as a PvP multiplayer where players could battle it out amongst the debris and asteroids. However, as development in Early Access continued a single-player element was added for when players just wanted to explore the beautiful visuals Anshar Studios had created.

So in complete zero-g the campaign features challenges to solve, air to find as well as upgrades to the EVA suit. The multiplayer is still a big part of the experience, with two multiplayer modes available: Package Extraction and Race. The former is the main PvP battle mode, facing off against one other player in a game of wits. It’s all about careful use of shields, missiles and boosts to achieve victory. Race on the other hand is exactly that, a roller coaster ride in space where speed and agility are highly important.

While zero-g VR gameplay has got a lot better Anshar Studios are open to the fact that Detached is not for everyone: “This is an extreme VR experience that simulates sudden and dramatic acceleration, freefalling, twisting and rolling. Even with the 90 FPS frame rate, it is not for VR-sensitive players,” states the team.

When VRFocus reviewed the PC version of Detached we gave it four stars, saying: “Detached has great elements to it, it looks good, the controls are excellent, and it offers some unique combat gameplay.”

With full support for the DualShock 4 controller and available in English, Polish, French, German and Simplified Chinese, Detached will launch for PlayStation VR on 5th July, 2018, retailing for $24.99 USD/€24.99 EUR. For any further updates from Anshar Stduios, keep reading VRFocus.
