New Screenshots Released For RollerCoaster Tycoon Joyride

The upcoming PlayStation VR release is looking good.

Atari have released a number of new screenshots for their upcoming virtual reality (VR) title RollerCoaster Tycoon Joyride. The title, which was announced earlier in the year, is planned to release for PlayStation VR and will give players a chance to truly immerse themselves within the classic RollerCoaster Tycoon experience with some new twists.

For the first time in the series history RollerCoaster Tycoon Joyride will take players to virtual space and with it and enhanced experience. Set to offer the traditional track building that players have come to love and know, they will also be able to ride on their newly created rollercoasters in stunning first-person mode. This not only means that fans of rollercoasters will be able to enjoy a near endless amount of them but also build their own to share with friends.

On the ride building side of things players will be able to create some truly creative and interesting rollercoasters thanks to the preset pieces which all fit together with ease. Offering a sandbox approach to the creation process, the whole environment is a canvas for players to lay out their track where the sky is the limit before jumping in and giving it a test ride in immersive VR.

If that is not enough entertainment then players will also be able to pick up a virtual blaster and ride allow their new creation trying to shoot targets to earn points. Complete with slow-motion, a number of blasters and targets, plus online leaderboards and support for multiplayer. RollerCoaster Tycoon Joyride is an action packed title that takes a classic and ramps it up to the current generation plenty of replayability.

Back at the Game Developer Conference (GDC) 2018, VRFocus’ Nina Salomons sat down with Atari’s Senior Producer, Simon Deal to talk about the upcoming title in great length and learn about some of the new features coming to the series.
