Oculus Go EU Retail Pre-orders are live Ahead of In-store Rollout

You’ll be able to impulse buy Oculus Go at the end of the month.

When Facebook announced the launch of standalone headset Oculus Go during its F8 conference last month, the easiest (and only) way of getting hold of one for most people was through the Oculus website. Towards the end of this month Oculus will begin rolling out the head-mounted display (HMD) to retail partners in Europe and the UK, with pre-orders already started.

European consumers keen on getting hold of the Oculus Go headset can now place their pre-orders at the following locations:  Argos, Dixons (including Currys and PC World), Amazon, and Shop Direct in the UK; Amazon and FNAC/Darty in France; CoolBlue in the Netherlands; Digitec in Switzerland; and AlternateAmazonMediaMarkt, and Saturn in Germany.

Oculus Go retails for £199 GBP / $199 USD for the 32GB version and comes as one complete package, so consumers don’t need any other kit to enjoy virtual reality (VR) gaming and other immersive experiences. This makes the Oculus Go very easy to setup and use for beginners. The setup does require a smartphone app to begin with, but once completed all apps can be downloaded through the headset as well as the phone.

Features include built-in speakers (with a mini-jack option for headphones), 3DoF controller, a 538ppi, 5.5” 2560 x 1440 WQHD, fast-switch LCD display with a new set of optics providing what Oculus calls ‘our best lenses yet’, microphone for all your voice chat needs, and compatibility with Samsung Gear VR, so there’s plenty of content available.

Oculus Go can be purchased now through Oculus.com. If you pre-order at any of the above retailers, shipping commences on 26th June, 2018. Or go in store on that date to pick one up.

Since launch, Oculus Go has seen several titles arrive specifically for the headset, showcasing its new features like the improved screen. These include: They Suspect Nothing, Anshar Online, b-Team, Dead Secret Circle, Pet Lab and  République VR to name a few. VRFocus will continue its coverage of Oculus Go, reporting back with the latest updates.
